Do not panic. If the fire is very small, you may be able to use the welding blanket and fire blanket you have to put out the fire however, if the fire is too large, call the fire department. Always sound the fire alarm to warn other workers nearby and shut off your welder if there is a fire.
Then leave the area as quickly as possible.

Fires from welding operations are started by sparks, hot slag, and flame from the torch. Sparks often drop or are carried long distances by the wind. Slag falls on surfaces or materials below.
