Silicone vs. PTFE Coated Fiberglass: Choosing the Right Fabric for Industrial Insulation

When selecting materials for industrial fireproof insulation, the choice often comes down to silicone or PTFE-coated fiberglass fabric. Both offer excellent heat resistance and durability, but their unique properties make them suitable for different applications.

Silicone-coated fiberglass is prized for its exceptional flexibility and cost-effectiveness. It performs well in temperatures up to 260°C and provides good fire retardancy, making it the ideal choice for flexible insulation covers, fire blankets, and fabric expansion joints in non-corrosive environments.

PTFE-coated fiberglass, on the other hand, is the high-performance option. It withstands higher temperatures up to 300°C and offers superior non-stick properties and exceptional resistance to chemicals and acids. This makes it indispensable in harsh, corrosive environments and for applications requiring easy cleaning.

In short, choose silicone for budget-friendly, flexible thermal protection. Choose PTFE for demanding, high-heat, or chemically aggressive settings where non-stick performance is critical.
