Automobile lightweight refers to reducing the weight of the vehicle as much as possible on the premise of ensuring the strength and safety performance of the vehicle, thereby improving the power of the vehicle, reducing fuel consumption, and reducing exhaust pollution.

Energy saving and emission reduction is the core driving force of automobile lightweight, and material lightweight becomes the key content. As an important substitute for traditional metal materials in the field of automotive lightweighting, glass fiber composite materials have seen rapid growth in demand in recent years with the energy saving and emission reduction of automobiles and the promotion of new energy vehicles.

At present, glass fiber reinforced composite materials used in automobiles include: glass fiber reinforced thermoplastics (QFRTP), glass fiber mat reinforced thermoplastics (GMT), sheet molding compounds (SMC), resin transfer molding materials (RTM) and manual Paste FRP products. Glass fiber is widely used in the manufacture of automobiles and interior facilities, accounting for about 20% of the total glass fiber consumption in the world.
