Welding blanket coatings decide heat resistance, durability and anti-spatter performance. Picking the wrong type causes equipment damage and fire risks. With 22 years of refractory textile experience, Suntex sorts 5 mainstream coated blankets for your reference.
1. Acrylic-Coated Fiberglass – Budget Light-Duty Option
Thin flexible acrylic layer blocks small sparks. It’s soft, easy to cut and low-cost.
Best for thin-plate MIG welding, DIY repairs and light grinding. Not for heavy molten slag impact.
2. Silicone-Coated Fabric – All-Round Workshop Pick
Fiberglass base: 550°C continuous / 600°C peak; silica base: 1000°C continuous / 1200°C peak.
Waterproof & oil-proof, crack-resistant after repeated folding.
Suitable for auto shops, metal fabrication and outdoor field welding.
3. Vermiculite-Coated Fabric – High-Temp Welding Curtain
Natural mineral coating traps molten spatter.
Fiberglass version: 700°C continuous / 1000°C peak; silica version: 1000°C continuous / 1300°C peak.
Stays taut when hung as curtains to isolate heat and sparks, ideal for steel structure and boiler welding.
4. Aluminized Fiberglass – Radiant Heat Reflector
Reflects 90% radiant heat to shield precision parts. Base withstands 550–700°C.
Perfect for foundries, aerospace welding and high-temperature outdoor jobs. Avoid sharp scratches on the aluminum film.
5. Graphite & Neoprene Coated – Heavy-Duty Abrasion Resistant
Graphite: Non-stick, 700–900°C, for pipeline & mass production welding
Neoprene: Oil & friction resistant, great for auto manufacturing
Both last 2–3 times longer than regular fiberglass cloth for frequent heavy work.
Quick Selection Tips
Light low-heat work: Acrylic
Daily general workshop: Silicone
High-temp vertical welding: Vermiculite
Precision heat-sensitive equipment: Aluminized
High-frequency oily industrial lines: Graphite / Neoprene
