What kind of welding fire blanket resists damage from high temperatures?

What should you pay attention to when choosing a fire blanket?

When performing hot work welding near factories, construction sites, or Class A/B flammable and explosive warehouses, even a small spark can lead to a major disaster.
That’s when you need a welding fire blanket.

It’s not an ordinary canvas — it’s a “fire shield” made from non-flammable materials like fiberglass.
Simply put, it resists high temperatures and won’t easily burn. It can easily withstand welding spatter, molten slag, and sparks reaching up to 1,000°C.
Its purpose: isolation and protection.

Wrap it around the work area during hot work. It stops sparks from injuring people or damaging equipment,
prevents fire from spreading between work zones, and can even be used as a light shield during arc welding — helping create a safe, compliant work environment.

What three points should you focus on when choosing one?

1. Material — silica glass fiber cloth offers higher heat resistance and is suitable for long-duration work. Standard fiberglass cloth is more budget-friendly. Asbestos cloth is banned.

2. Temperature rating — Look for clearly marked “continuous operating temperature” and “short-term exposure temperature.” For welding sparks, choose a blanket rated to withstand at least 500°C.

3. Certification — Make sure it has a Class A flame-retardant test report, confirming it will not catch fire or melt when exposed to flame.

In short: one blanket stops sparks, two prevent fire.
